Voiceover and Announcing Careers Start Here


The voiceover, announcing and narration opportunites are everywhere.  Today's digital technology makes it possible for the voice over artist to essentially be a one-man band by lowering high quality audio equipment prices to an affordable level.  Although voiceovers, announcing and narration are very similar, they are their own uinque niche markets within the broadcast industry with different producers, casting and talent agencies.

The narrator Is most commonly identified as the voice talent behind all documentaries. He/she assists in telling the story of the documentary. A good example is "The E! True Hollywood Story" which is many times narrated by actor Kris Kristofferson.   The announcer usually refers to the voice that presents at live events.  Michael Buffer has made a career out of announcing one phrase, "Let's Get Ready To Rumble!"     The voiceover artist mostly refers to the voice behind commercials and movie trailers and can even refer to talent behind the voice of animated characters.

Radio is theater of the mind and air personalities (announcer, jock, DJ or disc jockey) are its actors. To become successful it requires passion, practice, a willingness to learn, ability to read, ego, ability to write, patience, desire, and sacrifice. The institution of radio has a responsibility to entertain and inform. Air personalities anchor the broadcast industry. A microphone is power. Becoming an air personality can lead to a career in or out of radio. . , I would offer the following for those interested in becoming a radio personality. 1.
